Summer in California is nearly over and every day it is looking more like we are closer to fall.  Well that is it is looking like the kind of fall days we have here in Cali.  Days that are cooler than summer (80 degrees is coming instead of high 90's) and shorter.  I can tell the days are getting shorter because my timed light needs to be adjusted to come on sooner.  My living room gets grey before the light comes on to brighten things up.  But for now there is about a week left of my usual summer routine.

I have three more days of watching grand-children then my schedule changes and I'll only watch them two afternoons a week and a Sunday now and then for one of my sons and the occasional day off for the other son.  I look forward to summer because I get to spend so much time with them.  Then as summer draws to a close I look forward to having more time to myself so I can get a few things done.  It has been this way for a number of years now and I like this routine.

But I am especially excited for this year because my husband and I cancelled the 24/7 internet access and the Fios TV.  Now we only have computer access if we hook our phone up to the computer as a hot spot and our TV antenna doesn't get very good reception so there isn't a TV to capture my attention every moment of the day.

For me it was hard to get used to not having the TV, for my husband it was hard not to have the 24/7 internet access.  It has been about 2 months and we are slowing adjusting.  I was very twitchy at first.  I wanted to watch television so badly.  I missed Flea Market Flip and NCIS more than I though I would.  My husband missed watching videos and cruising the internet whenever he chose.  He also missed being able to work on his programming any time he wanted.  Now he must be selective and careful with his time on the computer.  We find ourselves taking advantage of others 24/7 access to  Wifi when we have the opportunity.

My hope is that without these distractions we will get out doors more and that I will get in my spare room to sew and do crafts. There are many more things around my house that need attention too, we'll see.  We'll see how I/we do at adjusting to life without complete access to technological distractions.  Maybe my brain will grow.  Ha!  I hope so.

On Fridays we post 5 things about the week that were a blessing. It is hosted by  Susanne at  Living to Tell the Story ~~~ This one, Titus, will be 10 soon.  He and I spend Wednesday afternoons together. He does homework, get a snack and we watch Sponge Bob or Phineas and Ferb, then we cook dinner before the rest of the family comes home.   He is so smart and cooks like he is much older. My Friday's Fave Five are: #1. See above.  I love that boy and I am so glad he is not interested yet in after school clubs.  We get to spend the time I never got when he was a baby.  His Mom worked while the two older ones were between birth and 5 years.  I got to love on them for her, but with Titus she stayed home.  I feel very blessed to have this time with him now. #2.  I had lunch with my son yesterday and he is doing so good.  God is healing him and he is now going to volunteer at the hospital.  This ...

Friday's Fave Five

I love Fridays when I get to post my favorite five things or blessings about the week.  There are always more than five so it is sometimes hard to pick. To see others who participate go to Living to Tell the Story and click on the respondents in the comments.  Many of them participate. 1. From last Friday night to yesterday I was sick.  It was a flu and a sinus infection, but thankfully not the flu. Yesterday I got to go to my son's new house.  We were outside most of the time so I was not having to stay a long way away from my grands and son.  2.  Even though everything is shut down I am blessed to go to a church that has can post all services online.  I got to enjoy our Women Rock Bible Study online .  It was so good. 3.  I may have spent most of my vacation at home sick but I still have 4 more days that I can go do something now that I am feeling much, much better. 4.  I have some sewing to do and have been doing s...

Friday's Fave Five

https://susannesspace.blogspot.com/   Click this link to see the host and others who participate in Friday's Fave Five.  This picture is of my dear friend Lucy who went to be with the Lord just a few days after Christmas.  In fact just a minute after learning my son was being air lifted to Loma Linda Hospital I received a call from one of the Reverends at our church telling me she has died.   Why such a sad memory on a day when I am to tell my Fave Fives of the week? 1. Friends.  I love my friends (sisters in Jesus) so much and have a wonderful week of zoom meetings where I have had the blessing of talking to many of them.  I have had text messages, phone calls, and chats on Face Book.  The best thing is that we talk of Jesus and how present He has been in our lives during this time.  Lucy was a wonderful sister in the Lord and I thought of her a bit this week.  I talked with her daughter by text and we cri...
